New Preparatory School Opened by Teresa May, MP

We were proud to be present at the recent opening of The Abbey School’s new Preparatory School building on the historic site of the former Judges’ Lodgings at 12 Christchurch Gardens Reading. In front of a large and enthusiastic audience the new building was opened officially by the Home Secretary, Teresa May, MP. The new building is to be called `The Abbey Gardens`.

Haslams was instrumental in valuing and acquiring the site for the School who have been clients of the firm for many years. The original building has since been extended and refurbished throughout internally at a cost in excess of £1.50 million to provide state of the art facilities. Haslams’s Steven Smith commented “…the contractors, Francis Bros, did an amazing job enlarging and converting a tired Victorian building into an impressive facility which will benefit the School’s staff and pupils for many years to come. Everyone associated with the project should be applauded”

The project was overseen by Groma Consulting as contract administrators; the architects were London based DPA; and legal advice was provided by Blandy & Blandy. Haslams, the School’s surveyors, has a specialist team advising its many education and charity clients.
