Reading Church secures permission for major extension and residential development

Advised by Haslams Chartered Surveyors, St George’s Church PCC and Oxford Diocese, has secured permission for a Church Hall and some 12 affordable housing units plus extra parking spaces at this Reading based Church.  St George’s Church, located on St George’s Road, is a Listed Building and multi-ethnic Church serving West Reading.

Planning permission was given recently by Reading Borough Council for the construction of a single storey Church Hall as an extension to the existing Tylehurst St George’s Church.  To assist the funding of the new Church Hall, the adjacent land is to be sold to Stonewater Housing Association to deliver 12 (twelve) affordable housing units over nearly 8,000 square feet of two storey accommodation.

Haslams’s partner, Steven Smith, says: “After working on this project since 2002, along with others within the client’s professional team, we are delighted to have got to the point where our client can now proceed with this development and provide much needed community facilities plus equally needed affordable housing units for the local area.”

Reading-based architects, The Harris Partnership, designed the extension and the affordable units for both the social housing provider, Stonewater and the St George’s Church PCC.
