Haslams Surveyors LLP flying the flag for Reading at ShedMasters 24 in Amsterdam

Neil Seager and Alec White have returned from last week’s ShedMasters Conference in Amsterdam with a cautious optimism. The conference, focusing on the UK and European industrial and logistics market, brings together the sector’s leading developers, investors, occupiers, and agents.

Their key take aways were:-

• Positivity in the sector was high particularly relative to other sectors.
• Downward direction of yields
• Competition from other uses for land will increase in short term – data centre and residential.
• Rental growth not at an end.
• ESG on investor radar less so for occupiers who remain more focused on location and availability of labour.
• Availability of power high on the threat list.
• Plethora of geopolitical turbulence whilst has dumbing down effect on the market can provide an opportunity.
• Planning system remains barrier to investment. Government, please sort it out!
• Amsterdam is a beautiful and friendly city – highly recommended.
