Brakes Bros Warehouse Now Complete

1 / 10 / 2012

The new Brakes Bros unit of 208,000 sq.ft has now completed and is trading at Suttons Business Park Reading. Haslams leased the property pre construction on behalf of Standard Life Investments in late summer 2011. It remains Reading’s largest ever warehouse pre let and with the Tesco Distribution Centre development at junction 11 has put Reading on the map as serious location for logistics. Previously Reading had been dismissed mainly to due to the value of land for other uses such offices.

Neil Seager, partner at Haslams commented “It is great to see the development completed. I suspect it will not be the last of this type in Reading now there is confidence in the location for “big box” distribution. The growth of the internet use to purchase goods and the desire for customers to click and collect is likely to further drive demand for large warehouse space including in affluent locations such as Berkshire.”

The chilled warehouse at Suttons was developed on the site made available by the demolition of the old Suttons Seeds building, more recently the home of Jacobs Engineering. Standard Life Investments and Brakes Bros are proud of the development. Given the various challenges and time constraints, this project is recognised as being a major success story and the result of developer and tenant working in close collaboration throughout.

Haslams acted jointly with LSH, and Brakes Group was represented by Gerald Eve.
