The University of Reading has appointed Savills and Haslams Chartered Surveyors to sell their Shinfield West holdings, which is the first part of the development of the South of M4 strategic development plan.

Plans to improve the area are being carried out by the University in partnership with house builders Taylor Wimpey and David Wilson Homes.

David Savage, Chief Operating Officer at the University, said: “We wish to generate the maximum sums possible for reinvestment in the University particularly where we have created such deliverable assets and where we are selling into an established marketplace.”

The site will also have new community and education facilities, a new relief road over the M4 and an accompanying centre with retail, office and leisure space.
