Jansons Property Wins Green Light for Reading Retail Scheme

Jansons Property has received detailed planning consent from Reading Borough Council for a 39,817 sq ft retail and leisure redevelopment.

The £11m scheme at Basingstoke Road, Reading, will include a 16,512 sq ft Aldi supermarket, a 16,305 sq ft Pure Gym and a 7,000 sq ft Greene King pub.

The three-acre site at 350 Basingstoke Road is adjacent to a Morrisons supermarket and currently occupied by two vacant office buildings, totalling 60,000 sq ft.

Work is due to start on the project in January 2015 with completion expected by the autumn.

Andy Jansons, director, said: “The new retail and leisure outlets will bring additional choice, employment and facilities to the local area, as well as improving the appearance of the site from Basingstoke Road.”

Rapleys and Haslams advised Jansons.
