Despite the economic gloom we are delighted to report a record achievement for the practice last month when we exchanged contracts on four significant development land sites during the course of one week.
Haslams’ Partner Chris Newman said: “The coming together of four exchanges in one week was a great achievement and an indicator that some confidence is returning to the development land market.”
Haslams were instructed on the disposal of a 5 acre site at Three Mile Cross with potential for 54 dwellings; a 9.5 acre site in Spencers Wood with potential for 80 dwellings; another 6 acre site in Winnersh identified for 60 dwellings; and the sale of a 1.2 acre site in Wargrave for 8 executive houses. We acted for the land owner in each case and all sites were taken up by national house builders.
Chris added: “These exchanges came off the back of another major sale where we acted for Thames Water with the disposal of its Bath Road Reservoir site in Reading to Bewley Homes.” This was a 5.5 acre site with planning permission for 78 dwellings and attracted much publicity locally.
Senior Partner Steven Smith added: “These transactions cement our position in the Thames Valley market place as the region’s leading valuer and agent when it comes to development land. It gives us a perfect handle on current values and we would be pleased to advise any other land owner on development potential and value should they require professional advice in this increasingly specialised area”.
