It’s been a sporting summer for two of the surveyors at Haslams, with Roger Reid and Andrew Fraser putting the rest of the office to shame with their athletic accomplishments.
In May the duo took part in the Jones Lang La Salle Property Triathlon at Eton Dorney Lake which comprised of a slightly colder than your average bath 750m swim, 21.2km cycle and a 5km run. No world records or indeed any records were broken but the pair both finished with respectable times.
Then in June, Roger went solo to take on the IAS Cycle Challenge sponsored by SEGRO. The race followed the gruelling Olympic road race route travelling from Rosslyn Park to Box Hill with the full route covering 73 miles – although being more of a sprint specialist Roger chose the shorter distance of 32 miles!
He completed the race in 2 hours narrowly missing first place by seconds.
The Property Triathlon proved to be just a warm up for Andrew and with aspirations rivalling those of the Brownlee brothers he embarked on three further Triathlons over the summer. This required a punishing training schedule (or so he told us) and the even more arduous kerbing of his alcohol intake!
Warming up with the Henley on Thames River Sprint Triathlon and working his way up to Olympic distance in the Reading and Cotswold End of Season Triathlons.
The pair have hung up their Tri-suits for the winter now, but will no doubt be dusting them down again come next spring. Until then the rest of the office can go back to a guilt free diet of biscuits and cakes!
