Up for a challenge

Chris Newman, Partner at Haslams Chartered Surveyors, will be setting himself the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro this month.

Unbelievably over 25,000 people attempt to climb Kilimanjaro every year and just like Chris many opt to do so with a view to raising money for a nominated charity. Haslams is proud to be sponsoring Chris’s endeavours, and we wish him a safe journey and success at reaching the peak of the 5,895 metre high mountain.

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro does not require any technical skills or special equipment. However, the journey is not to be taken lightly. Chris will need to be mentally capable as well as physically fit – at least we know he is 50% skilled enough to meet this challenge…

Chris Newman, Partner commented “I jumped at the chance to climb Mount Kilimanjaro as soon as it was offered.

I am looking forward to the physical challenge of the climb itself. Having said that, if Chris Moyles can do it, anyone can. Can’t they?

The two charities to benefit from our fundraising are particularly important to me.

Wooden Spoon’s work helps the lives of disadvantaged children in Britain, whilst Macmillan nurses made the lift of my mum a lot more bearable before we lost her to cancer 16 years ago.”

Chris will be starting his ascent from 12th January and is due to complete the journey on 22nd January. We will update you with his achievement in a follow up email once he has returned to the UK. If you do wish to sponsor Chris the link is www.justgiving.com/teams/100KiliChallenge.
