RFC Aim High with Convention Centre Development

We are pleased to report the submission of Reading Football Club’s major planning application to develop the car park area at the Madejski Stadium in Reading to provide up to 430 residential units along with associated landscaping and car parking. The application will also provide for further residential and mixed use development comprising 203 residential units with a convention centre, ice rink, 246 bedroom hotel and up to 102 service departments. There will also be a decked car park within the convention centre and ancillary retail space together with a multi-storey car park and related infrastructure.

Haslams has acted for Reading Football Club for many years and were part of the consultancy team that has worked extremely hard to produce a very substantial planning application within a relatively short period of time. The application has involved extensive negotiations with the Local Planning Authority Reading Borough Council and other stake holders.

If the application is approved it will deliver much sought after residential units to help alleviate the current under supply of housing in the Reading area while the convention centre and other leisure facilities will further enhance the town’s status as the regional capital of the Thames Valley.
